It’s the year 2020, cult films such as Akira and Blade Runner showed us a cyberpunk reality of a dystopian society that could be a future.
Whilst we’re not quite in that kind of reality we are in the grasps of a global pandemic, Trump is leading America into a mass grave, Boris is leading us into the night like guinea pigs. There is hate speech on social media bating us against each other as we head further into our own echo chamber. Sounds pretty dystopian doesn’t it.
As a band whose life blood is touring, 2020 has brought many changes for us personally too. No longer able to write and play together in the same space, we have embraced technology to write songs remotely for our exciting new album.
We couldn’t quite get our heads around performing in our bedrooms in front of a zoom camera, we felt that the magic of The Pearl Harts would get lost. After some deliberation we have come up with the idea that we want to make a short series of Gigs In Unusual Spaces.
The first “a dystopian drive-in” a guerrilla drive-in set in the depths of South East London in an industrial yard… filled with warehouse buildings and art studios, crashed cars and mechanics. Teaming up with our friends VC London– the UK’s only all-female motorcycle crew and local artists and friends who will be our live audience. The perfect backdrop for the current climate – we are really hoping to capture the moment of now.
We will be inviting fans to watch exclusively through our app, hear some brand new music when we stream the gig free through our Pearl Harts app on
July 19th 2020 at 6pm – You can find our app here – https://shop.gigrev.com/
We will also be raising awareness for the Music Venue Trust with the hashtag ‘Save Our Venues’.
We hope you can join us.
This is 2020 xx
